Abstract

Prior studies suggest that peripheral health and comorbid disease can influence Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology and neurodegenerative processes. However, no studies to date have comprehensively examined how measures of peripheral health and risk for non‐neurological disease relate to biomarkers commonly used in AD research. The present study examined the association between 16 protein‐based health indicators and plasma biomarkers of brain amyloid‐β (Aβ) accumulation, phosphorylated tau, neurodegeneration, and reactive astrogliosis.
